Background / History

Garrett Chase developed an interest in photography at an early age. His first “real” camera was a Kodak Disc Camera, which he received as a gift from his father and stepmother as a child. Years later, while pursuing his undergraduate degree, Garrett took two semesters of photography and learned the basics of the Art.

After earning a degree in Computer Science in 1999, Garrett commenced on a career that has involved programming, IT, web development, graphic design, and digital marketing. He has utilized his photography skills in his career as well as for personal enjoyment, with the latter happening more frequently.

Connection to FringeROC

Throughout his life, Garrett has entertained himself with photography as a hobby. With influences like his mother, Nona, always pushing him to be creative. In 2015, the idea for FringeROC first formed in Garrett’s mind, as he envisioned a small, select group of local artists working together with the goal of promoting each other’s artwork.

In 2016, Garrett was introduced to Zazzle, which he eventually grafted into his plans in regard to product manufacturing. Then, during the spring of 2020, with the COVID lockdown holding the country at a standstill, Garrett discussed the concept with a good friend and colleague, Jules Ma’vis. Within three months, the two of them had built both FringeROC.com and the FringeROC Zazzle Online Store.
